Trade Ideas vs TradingView

Trade Ideas vs TradingView: dedicated stock discovery or chart-first market analysis?

Both can surface stocks, but they start from different centers of gravity. Trade Ideas is scanner-first; TradingView integrates screening into a broader charting and multi-market environment.

The core difference

Trade Ideas is designed around real-time U.S. equity scanning, event alerts, ranked lists, and active-trading workflows. TradingView’s Stock Screener lives inside a platform built around Supercharts, screeners across multiple asset types, indicators, alerts, and global market data.

The choice becomes clearer when you ask where you want to spend most of the session: monitoring scanner events or working from charts.

TradingView wins the breadth argument; Trade Ideas wins specialization

TradingView’s current screener documentation highlights fundamental and technical filters, global stocks, and integration with its charting tools. Its pricing page lists multiple screeners, hundreds of fields, and web/desktop/mobile apps. That breadth is attractive when you analyze different markets or rely heavily on chart studies.

Trade Ideas is narrower but more purpose-built for active U.S. stock discovery, with a distinction between real-time event alerts and continually ranked lists.

AI and backtesting are not apples-to-apples

Trade Ideas Premium adds Holly AI and OddsMaker backtesting. TradingView currently includes AI Screener functionality for turning natural-language ideas into screener configurations, plus its own strategy/backtesting ecosystem. “Has AI” therefore tells you very little; compare whether you want system-generated trade candidates, natural-language screen setup, or strategy coding/testing.

Decision rule

Choose Trade Ideas for a scanner-first U.S.-equity process. Choose TradingView when charts, indicators, multi-market screening, and browser/mobile continuity are the larger part of your work. Some traders may use one for discovery and the other for charting, but that only makes sense if the combined workflow justifies two tools.
